The Blue Mountains World Heritage Area is one of Australia's most spectacular natural wonders. Stretching over an area of approximately 1 million hectares and encompassing 7 magnificent National Parks it is the closest World Heritage listed region to a major city anywhere in the world.
This amazingly accessible wilderness offers visitors a truly unique opportunity to reconnect with nature and indulge all the senses. It is a place of infinite beauty, where panoramas of rugged sandstone escarpments, deep mountain gorges and tree filled valleys stretch as far as the eye can see.
We are located in Wentworth Falls, which is the first of the upper mountains villages of the Blue Mountains. We are at an altitude of approximately 870metres above sea level, 100km west of the Sydney City Central Business District.
The Falls Mountain Retreat is tucked away in one of the most unique and desirable locations you could wish for. Bordered by towering trees, historic parklands and quiet country laneways we're just a 200 metre stroll to the National Park where you can explore some of the Blue Mountains most spectacular walking trails, waterfalls and scenic lookouts.
While the ambience may trick you into feeling that you're a million miles from anything we're actually just over a kilometre from the historic village of Wentworth Falls - approximately 3-4 minutes by car or a brisk 20 minute walk.
The larger town centres of Leura and Katoomba are only 5 & 10 minutes away respectively so shopping, dining and all local attractions are easily accessible.
If travelling by car the quickest route to Wentworth Falls is via the M4 motorway, which becomes the Great Western Highway just beyond Penrith. From central Sydney simply follow Parramatta Road until the turnoff to the M4 motorway. The trip from Sydney to Wentworth Falls is a comfortable 90 minute drive under normal traffic conditions.
If you have a little more time to explore, you may like to take the alternative route along Bells Line of Road which starts beyond Richmond & Windsor. With a much more relaxed "Sunday Drive" feel to it Bells Line of Road tempts you with many interesting places to visit along the way. The fruit stalls of Bilpin, the Historic Village at Kurrajong and the Mt Tomah Botanical Gardens are just some of the options open to you. As you travel further west you will be treated to magnificent views over the rugged expanse of the Grose Valley and National Parks to the South.
